Jacob Jordaens’ Flight into Egypt To Be Exhibited at the Hermitage

Conservation of Jacob Jordaens’ Flight into Egypt was completed at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

The Flight into Egypt is very characteristic for the late period of Jordaens’ work. It came to the conservation workshop in preparation for the exhibition Jacob Jordaens (1593–1678) Paintings And Drawings From Russian Collections opening at the State Hermitage on the 2nd of March. To prepare the painting for the exhibition, art conservators removed darkened varnish from its surface.

The exhibition of the Flemish artist, which is going to be held at the Hermitage and the Pushkin State Museum, will be the first one of such scale.
